The special thing about doina is the way it is performed. Instrumental style is used to perform this slow and soft ballad.
Free rhythmic pattern is used in the performance. The themes of the music is often emotional like, sadness, pain, belongingness etc. Moreover, this is not a fixed style.
Different ethnic groups can have their own interpretations and performance criteria. Doina is accompanied by double bass, violin and viola. Country has a rich presence in other genres as well.
