Arabian music has always been known for its melody and rhythm. It’s a fusion of different form of music including Turkish and Persian. The mixture of different forms of music has culminated in a soul-stirring music. Its popularity is not just restricted to mainland. Other parts of the Middle-East and Asia have been greatly influenced by mesmerizing music of Arab. The most interesting aspect about Arabian music is its universal form that has been taken from different sources. In the roots of Arabian music lies influence of European culture, Greek civilization, roman and Persian culture. If we take a peek into the history records, Arabian music is quite old and boasts of a great history. It’s in existence since the era of great Greek civilization.
Arabian music can be better studied in two phases of pre 1950 and post this time frame.
In pre 1950 phase, the music was mainly traditional in nature but the post 1950 era saw a revolution in form of openness to western culture. The country is blessed with wonderful amalgamation of western songs and Arabic instruments. The resultant music is also known as Arabic pop. The region has been known for giving extremely talented singers. Famous Arabic singers include, Dalida, Amal Hijazi, Elissa, Al Saher, Magida El Roumi, Sabah, Nawal El Kuwaiti, Wael Kfoury, Kadhem Warda Al-Jazairia, Latifa, Nawal Al Zoghbi, Haifa Wehbe and Asalah Nasri etc.
